Kateřina Tučková: The Expulsion Of Gerta Schnirch. Directed by: Marián Amsler
A story about a fate broken by history, about the guilt of Czechs and Germans, about whether it is possible to forgive and understand. This dramatization of The Expulsion Of Gerta Schnirch, a novel by Kateřina Tučková, takes place in Brno before World War II, during and long after its end. The life of the main character, growing up in a complicated Czech-German family constellation, is considerably shaken by her experience with the so-called Brno death march. The play is about the ambiguity of collective guilt and doubtful responsibility for bloody historical circumstances.
