Honoro – reconcilio – gaudeo – a concert
The Ars Brunensis Chorus this year recalls the 35th anniversary of its founding. For this anniversary, the choir has prepared a program with a symbolic name Honoro – Reconcilio – Gaudeo (Worship - Reconcile - Celebrate), which will take place on 31 May 2015, when seventy years and one day will have passed from the expulsion of the German residents from Brno. In the first part of the program, which will be held at St. Augustine Church at Náměstí Míru, spiritual compositions of Czech and international authors will be heard, which will virtually fulfil the Honoro – Reconcilio part (culminating with the composition And Death Shall Have No Dominion by the Norwegian composer Sverre Bergh). In the second part of the program, to take place in the beautiful sets of the Observatory and Planetarium on Kraví Hora, the program turns to secular compositions with a strong antimilitant message (Veljo Tormis: Iron Incantation, Bohuslav Martinu: Romance of the Dandelions) with a content celebrating art in its essence (Zdeněk Lukáš: A Tribute to Creators, The Passing of Time etc.). The program related to the "Reconcilio" then passes into the "Gaudeo". In the final part of the evening, the Ars Brunensis Chorus will also perform some compositions of lighter nature – such as an oratorio by Vladimír Franz titled Presidential Election, attended by the author himself.
