Portraits of Brno's Jewish inhabitants will fill the Moravské náměstí square
16 – 30 April 2015 – Justice 300 – an exhibition of portraits of Brno's Jewish inhabitants
Sokol Brno I, with its tradition of more 150 years, is one of the oldest and biggest societies in the city. This firm historical tie, alongside with Sokol's ideas of liberty and humanism, have been the reason for Sokol Brno I to get involved in the Year Of Reconciliation project. It will promote several cultural events, commemorating often tragic events of the 20th century.
The first event will take place on the day of remembrance of the Holocaust victims (in Hebrew: Yom ha-Shoah), which falls on 16 April this year: an exhibition presenting 300 portraits of Brno Jewish residents will be installed on Moravské náměstí (Moravian Square). It is a unique and not yet published collection of photographs dating back to the years 1939-1941. The exhibition, held from 16 April to 30 May, will be on display in the public space in the Moravian Square in a special circular structure resembling a crown of thorns, which will surround the statue of Justice and symbolically communicate with it.
Venue: Moravské náměstí, in front of the Supreme Administrative Court building, Brno
